November 2009 - Somewhere in Florida
Below are recent photos of Trig Ignatius and Bernie
Menninger on a fishing trip in Florida using the double paddle canoe Trig built. The canoe is 14 ½ feet long, has a beam (width) of 30 inches, and can accommodate one or two people.
In spite of her diminutive size, she’s quite seaworthy, and fun to paddle. Her
designer, Harry Bryan, based her on the double paddle canoes that were paddled and sailed in England in the late 1800’s. Trig reports that after building the canoe, he considered paddling to one of the ThimbleIslands
in Branford, CT and spending the night, recreating an essay
written by L.F. Herreshoff. However, he thought the better of it and decided
against it. In this day and age he’d probably be arrested for trespassing or something.
Trig and the canoe he built.

Enquiring minds want to know!
Is it just me, or do you see the striking resemblence between Mr B. in the picture above and Penn State head football
coach, Joe Paterno? In fact, do we really know how Mr B. spends his weekends? Is it possible he's
actuallly walking the sidelines of Beaver Stadium in PA's Happy Valley? Has anyone ever seen Mr B. and Joe
Paterno in the same place at the same time? Look at the picture of Mr B. on the right for 10 seconds I think you'll
see what I mean. Steve

Recently, Pat Kellen and Lynn David took a trip to Las Vegas
to see Jimmy Stio, Bette Midler and the Grand Canyon. What a great time we had. The Grand Canyon
was AWESOME !! Bette Midler was a hoot. She said, "30 years ago my audience was on drugs. Now they're on
medication". Jimmy was very gracious and carted us all over to see the sights and treated us to dinner each night we
were there. What a nice guy.
